First treatment including consultation

Using diathermy electrolysis, an ultra fine needle emits a current underneath the skin’s surface along the affected area. The heat from the current cauterises the vein and the redness disappears.  Tiny, barely visible scabs may form on the treated area but these will fall off after a couple of days revealing clear, unblemished skin.

Depending on the severity of the facials veins to be treated, usually 1-4 treatments are required.

FACIAL HAIR WAXING: There are two methods of waxing that are ideal for removal of facial hair:

HOT WAX: This wax consists of beeswax and resin and is melted to a thicker consistency than warm wax. Applied to the skin with a wooden spatula, it coats the hair with a thick layer and hardens around the hair to grip it tightly. Once dry, the wax is flipped up at the corner and pulled off quickly by the therapist. Many people find hot wax less painful than strip wax as the heat allows the pores to open so hair is removed more easily and it is the less sticky option more able to remove shorter hair than warm, strip wax.

STRIP/WARM WAX: This is the most popular method of waxing. It consists of resin, paraffin wax, glucose syrup and honey. Warm wax is smoothed onto the skin in a thin layer and immediately covered with a fabric or paper strip which is pressed/rubbed onto the waxed area before being removed in a quick swipe. Warm waxing is quicker than hot wax and larger areas can be waxed at one go.

The high energy pulses of light are directed at the follicles (hair roots)where growth takes place. The red light is absorbed by the pigment (melanin)in the hair shaft, causing temperature to rise and destroy the hair follicle. The yellow light targets blood supply to the growth cells in the follicle, resulting in further inhibition of hair re-growth. Multiple treatments are required as only hair follicles in the growth phase respond to treatment and so there is usually a 6-10 week interval between hair removal treatments. After each treatment hair growth takes longer, while less hair grows and is much thinner than before.

The therapist uses a hand held device which emits intense yellow, green and red light in a series of short pulses on the area to be treated. Yellow/green light destroys the acne causing bacteria in the skin while the red light directly targets overactive sebaceous glands. Heat from the light causes shrinkage of inflamed sebaceous glands, preventing over production of oil and also stimulates collagen, boosting the skin’s healing process and improving skin tone.
